Oli in 2000AD
I was picking through my collection of 2000ADs, and look what I found on the back cover of Prog 774 (14th March, 1992). Recognise the signature? I had no idea he'd worked on the magazine...

That's Oli's only work for 2000 AD, sadly. Although I firmly remembered it, I reasoned that most people either wouldn't recall it, or simply wouldn't have seen it, and so it became a 'new' piece of art for the cover. Took me bloody ages, though, and it includes bits from two other Oli pieces, too—both Zzap! covers: there's a recoloured/edited 'moon' from 30's SEUCK cover, and explosions from somewhere (although I don't remember exactly where).
A comparison—'before' and 'after'— is below!

As far as I remember, I made a mask, desaturated the skin, created a new layer (set to 'Multiply'), and used that to add a new colour. I then used Dodge and Burn for shading touch-ups.Ian Osborne wrote:That's an amazing piece of Photoshopping. How did you change his flesh tone from blue to, erm, flesh?
Yup. Some pretty good work there, too. Mind you, I keep hoping someone'll reprint Meltdown Man at some point. It would have been a great fit for the Megazine when vol. 4 started, but although I tried to put the relevant party at Rebellion together with Oli at the time, nothing ever came of it.Talking of Oli in comics, does anyone remember his Dan Dare artwork from The Eagle back in the Eighties?

Someone's saying (over at yakyak) that he recognizes Oli's work on a news webpage. I don't believe it. What do you think?
IMO he's confused by Mr. Hardy's style, similar to Oli's.
I guess it's the same Mr. Hardy from Oli's Look and Learn days?

Cheers.
